The Museum

The Museum of Oriental Art and Culture is a project conceived by Prof. Namkhai Norbu, an internationally renowned scholar, president of the International Dzogchen Community, of the Shang Shung Foundation, of ASIA Onlus, and author of more than 250 publications and books. He has collected with his family a private collection consisting of countless finds: works of art, handicrafts and costumes, votive objects of considerable cultural and ethnographic value, important documentary collections and documents concerning his research and studies on Himalayan and Central Asian culture. The museum is located in the eighteenth-century palace of the former registry office, part of the Aldobrandesco Castle of Arcidosso. The museum was created with the primary objective of preserving and promoting the Namkhai Collection and its main purpose is to disseminate the value of Eastern and Himalayan cultural heritage.
